Cortelyou Asked to Support TURNOFF WEEK @ PS 139

During the week of April 23-29, 2007, our school, along with thousands of other schools, libraries and communities, P.S. 139 will participate in Turnoff Week. By taking a solid one-week break from all screens, local families will re-evaluate the excessive role that screens play in their lives and reclaim time - for family, community and health. Our Turnoff Week Committee is asking local merchants to support this effort by sponsoring an activity or offering discounted merchandise and services during Turnoff Week. A schedule of events, participating businesses and discount coupons will be distributed to students, families and individuals taking part in the event.

If you are interested, please respond by April 11, 2007 and let us know the exact terms of your offer, discount or activity. You may respond to the email, phone or fax (listed below).

Sincerely,
Ayana Wiltshire
Coordinator of Student Affairs

I wonder if PS 139 will continue to shamelessly show non-educational Disney movies in school during this week?

As educators they should be extremely embarrassed by this practice.
